Painted Journeys

On Saturday 6th November Debbie Lambert’s new exhibition Painted Journeys will open with an artists talk commencing at 1.30pm. Her work explores nature in its purist form, with majestic mountains, moody skies, and swift flowing rivers, the work depicts a symphony of colours and emotions, like a well orchestrated piece.

This exhibition takes us on a journey as we engage with, and become one with Mother Nature. It is Debbie’s ambition to capture the music of nature and to let the viewer absorb the mood, and feel the rhythms of the place where she stood. But also to appreciate the uniqueness of the land in which we live.

As Debbie communes with nature, completely immersed in the solitude, absorbed by the stillness, she is able to bring measure of that to the viewer through her brush. “The style of painting’s vary from smooth to chunky palette knife work, and some a mixture of both - depending on my mood at the time and the mood of the place.”

Debbie is the head of the paint department at Mitre 10 Mega Ashburton, at least one of her days off each week involve painting.

“Having a strong love of nature and a fascination of our Mountains, my natural choice of subject matter was what I love the most.” She loves nothing more then to pack up the truck with the painting equipment, and disappear into the back and beyond, to escape from the everyday interruptions and just paint.

Debbie is also a popular tutor of both oils and watercolour painting, and has taken many students away for “plein air” weekends, holding regular weeknight classes as well as some weekend tutoring both locally and further afield. Don’t miss this beautiful exhibition at the Ashburton Art Gallery available for viewing from Saturday 6th November to 5th December 2010.
